Lazaro Saavedra was born in 1964. He has received awards such as the Premio Maretti, Fundación Valerio Riva, Naples, Italy in 2012 and the National Prize of Cuba for Fine Art, Havana, Cuba in 2014. He has been Artist in Residence at the Christoph Merian Foundation, Basel, Switzerland in 2002; the Mattress Factory, Pittsburgh, PA, USA in 2004 and has participated in the Impossibility Possible, Creative Workshop, Casa Daros, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil in 2013.
