José Emilio Fuentes Fonseca (JEFF) uses children’s idiom and iconography to establish an adult discourse, touching upon issues and themes crucial and important to human life. Working around the edges, the edges between laughter, pleasure, sorrow, pain, life, death, politics, religion, he makes the idea fundamental and the means of expression are subject to this.
José Emilio Fuentes Fonseca (JEFF) was born in 1974. He received a Creation Grant from the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Wifredo Lam, Havana, Cuba in 2012. His works are part of the collections of the Weisman Art Museum, Minneapolis, MN, USA; Hans Georg Näder Gallery, Berlin, Germany; Francessco Pellizzi, USA; Holly Block, USA; and Andreas Winker, Switzerland/Cuba.
